Ever wondered about the process of creativity (which is to say, how I come up with my ideas for blogging)?
Well. wonder no more! I explain all here, over at Elora’s place.
Elora Nicole is the mastermind behind Story 101, the online writing course I’ve been doing, and it’s an honour to be over at her place today for her series on creativity.
This is how it begins:
“I believe that I have a muse, and that she lives in the shower.”
(I’m not insane, honestly.) Come on over with me?

I practice my singing in the shower and if I’m not in the mood for that I can do some pretty good thinking in there (no brothers or parents to annoy me)!!!!
I’ve been giggling about this since I read it ages ago, because it explains everything! My bloging and writing have grown as sparse as my chances to take long showers! 🙂
Children – bad for my muse and my hygiene!
Ha! It’s all about the showers… 🙂
Inspirational and so encouraging, as always – thanks again for your honesty.
thank you Deborah – I really appreciate your encouragement!
Twitter and other writers are the death of my muse. Best to write first and wallow in self-pity over everyone else’s genius later;) Maybe I need to shower more!
Twitter is the enemy of all writing. And your writing is beautiful. You’re one of the genii I have to avoid pre-writing. 🙂
My own muse only ever strikes when I have something important I’m meant to be doing; it won’t let me focus on anything else till I’ve abandoned far more urgent tasks to write my thoughts down. I guess the advantage of a shower muse is it kills two birds with one stone. You must have the cleanest hair (and the largest shampoo bill) in the UK.
Ha! your muse sounds like a toddler. I am definitely appreciating my shower-muse more…
Love it! Especially not knowing how many times you washed your hair 🙂
Thanks, Cathy! With all the posts I write on suffering and hard stuff, sometimes it’s nice to write about hair-washing! 🙂
You might not be certified but your friends know you are! And if the shower is really your muse then we all would wish for you to take showers often!
Thanks, Mark, for my honorary Genius Certificate! Much appreciated. 🙂
