Loud

This is my ‘Five minute Friday’, inspired by Gypsy Mama.  The idea is that you write for five minutes flat on a topic, without worrying about whether it’s right or not.  This was my first time doing it – and it was kinda fun!  Check out others’ interesting 5-minute posts on the topic here.

I was never the loud one.  I was the quiet one, the studious one.  I didn’t speak up in class.  I smiled, and frowned, and waited to be asked.

Then at some point I found my voice.  I stopped just singing in the choir, and started singing solo.   It was an amazing feeling that people were actually listening to me and enjoying my singing.  My parents couldn’t believe that such a little person could produce such volume.

I loved that I could sing.  I learnt to sing opera arias, and grew bold in performance.  I sang with joy and pride and praise to God.  I had a gift, I could share it and people would listen.  I loved being loud.

Now I am ill, I cannot sing.  The diaphragm muscles have wasted and my voice is not what it was.  There is always hope that one day I will get better and can return to that.  But in the meantime I improvise.

Today I sing with my computer.  These words are my voice and I am singing loud.

It’s lovely. And writing endures longer than singing, and can be “heard” by more. 🙂

Thank you for your bravery to “come out” and accomplish finding His gift for you. This is a gift He has still given you and not take away. I pray in His time and will, you will be able to use it for His glory and time.
    Blessings
