Those of you who receive my newsletter will already know this, but I have an exciting announcement to make. Back in 2013, I contributed a chapter to a wonderful project called Soul Bare – ed. Cara Sexton, and I’m delighted to announce that…. (drum roll)… it’s being published by IVP in August 2016.
Why I think you will like Soul Bare
This book is a beautiful, powerful collection of stories and reflections on vulnerability and authenticity – with contributors including Sarah Bessey, Emily P Freeman, Seth Haines, Trilia Newbell – and me.
It asks the question, ‘How are Christians supposed to have hope and experience wholeness amidst personal challenges and failures?’ It is a tapestry of songs of grace and redemption in the face of disappointment and grief. My contribution is part-essay, part-memoir, connecting the prize-winning novel, Room, with my first eighteen months of parenthood. (Spoiler: you may need tissues).
I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of this project – it’s a fabulous idea, and a real honour to be alongside some stellar writers I know and love. The whole book has been expertly edited by Cara Sexton, herself a talented storyteller. It’s also a great way of getting to know some of the great and emerging writers in the Christian scene, particularly in America.
How you can get it
I’ve been slightly in denial that it’s happening – but it really is, and it’s so real that you can actually preorder it. So – go on! – do yourself a favour and preorder it now so you can have it in your sweaty hands the very day it comes out. And do sign up to my newsletter, which I send out every few months, so you’re the first to know of any book or personal news. I’ll be writing more about it nearer the time!
Thanks for celebrating with me, and for valuing my writing – it means the world to me.
Tanya,
Congratulations on being part of this. I look forward to reading your chapter!!
