COVER REVEAL!
Those Who Wait, my first full-length book, is coming out on October 16th. It’s a book about how to find God when you’re stuck on pause, longing for a better life. In gripping storytelling, we immerse ourselves into the lives of four Bible characters who waited impatiently – but who encountered God in the middle of the waiting.
I really wanted a cover that expressed that this was a book for everyone to read, gripping and accessible, but also different from your usual Bible exploration or devotion, because of the creative element. I wanted it to convey the transformational journey we embark on as we walk with Sarah, Isaiah, John and Mary, and the reflective creative exercises that pepper the book.
So I commissioned the best artist I know (Jon Marlow, who happens to be married to me), and the best graphic designer I know, Laura Ferguson (who happens to also be an ordained minister). They have captured the heart and feel of this book so well in this cover. Here it is:
Isn’t it the most beautiful book cover ever??
Pete Greig
The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that Pete Greig recommends my book. I cannot tell you how delighted I am by this. He is the founder of the 24-7 Prayer Movement, a global organisation that has changed people’s lives. As he witnessed others’ miraculous healings, he also wrestled with unanswered prayer for his own wife’s healing. The resultant book, God on Mute, is the best book out there on unanswered prayer. I’m thrilled that he’s endorsing my book.
Addie Zierman
Addie Zierman has written the foreword! Addie Zierman is one of my favourite writers and has authored two outstanding memoirs on faith and doubt, When We Were on Fire (as recommended by Philip Yancey), and Night Driving. She is full of wisdom and writes like I wish I could. Her foreword is just perfect, and I can’t wait for you to read it.
AND…. Announcing Blog Link-Up – WEDS 18 OCTOBER – What are you waiting for?
I’m hosting a blog link-up on Weds 18th October, two days after the release date.
If you’ve never been part of a synchroblog before, it’s great fun. On Weds 18th October, you publish your own post on the topic, and at the bottom saying that you’re linking with the Tanya Marlow Blog Link-Up to celebrate the release of her new book, Those Who Wait, with a link back to where the synchroblog is hosted. Then you visit a couple of other blogs and they visit yours – it’s a great way of getting to know other bloggers and hearing others’ stories.
Questions that might get you thinking about what to write for a blog post on this topic :
- As you think through your life, when did you go through a time of waiting, and what did you learn through it? What was hard about it? Tell us about what it’s like to live in limbo. Tell us how you struggle. Tell us how God met with you through it, or was silent in it. I’d love to hear your story of waiting.
- Make a poem out of listing all the things you’ve waited for in your life (see below)
- If you’ve read a pre-release copy of the book – how did it impact you?
- Or write a blog post more generally about waiting in the Bible and its spiritual value. I’ll give you more details on the 18th but get thinking now!
I’m dying to know – what do you think of the cover*?
*It’s too late to change anything, so…
