It’s ‘Five minute Friday’ time, joining with Lisa-Jo Baker.

When was the last time that you heard such good news that your heart bubbled up with joy?
For me, that was this morning. A bloggy friend had posted a prayer request: her daughter was going into hospital for a biopsy on her lymph nodes. It looked like it could be cancer. She herself had been wrung through the mill of cancer; her daughter had been close to death from another illness 3 years ago.
Although I have never met her, her story smacked me in the gut. There are some people in this world who taste more of suffering’s bitter gall than others – sometimes it doesn’t seem fair. I ached for her and cried out to God, ‘please Lord, be merciful.’
Today I read her blog post: her daughter is cancer-free. The largest lump was reduced and rubbery and flatter, the other 50 lumps disappeared. The doctors have no explanation.
She does, though. She is praising God, the healer, the maker, the restorer, the merciful. She is dancing with praise and joy and thanksgiving.
And I find myself, on the other side of the ocean, flooded with joy and tears. It is a privilege that we can carry one another’s burdens, share in their joys, carry their prayers to our same heavenly Father.
Today I’m thankful that I have people praying for me, and maybe even more thankful that from my bed, I can pray for others. I can partake in things of eternal and spiritual significance, fight heavenly battles and rejoice with my sisters and brothers in God’s gracious answers to prayer. I am dancing with her.
Over to you:
- When did you last have the joy of the experience of an answer to prayer?

Thank you! – I really value your prayers.
Wonderful news. 🙂 And I’m praying for you.
I am so humbled by your hand, offered so freely in friendship, your prayers, the love of Christ walking and talking across impossible distance with this beautiful strange gift of the Internet. Thank you so much for praying for Amy. I won’t forget it and I will keep your M.E. in my prayers.
Thank you so much – especially for taking the time to comment when you have so much going on at home! It has been a privilege to share just the smallest part of your journey. Won’t heaven be fun?!
Re-reading this today after my God and Suffering post went up (thank you for hosting me – I am so honored!!). It strikes me that it is one of the miracles of faith that we can honestly prostrate ourselves before the Throne and beg for healing, even though all of our life experience tells us that miracles are impossible and, if He has the capacity, He won’t say YES to us anyway. I am so thankful He has preserved that childlike faith in me that can forget the disappointments and still run to Him like a scared little child when troubles come knocking.
Amen, amen!!
