How’s your summer? I haven’t done much lately, really – apart from accidentally speaking to 2000+ people at the New Wine Conference 2017 #nwunited17.
It’s like this – Joy French approached me and said, “At New Wine we’re emphasising the theme of healing and wellbeing, and so we’d love to interview you as someone who isn’t healed but is living well.”
This made me cry, and felt very much like a God-thing. I have always said my story isn’t the type to get told at the front of conferences because it’s not victorious and has a messy ending. But this year that’s exactly the story that was told – via prerecorded video – and ended up being played at a major venue in both conference weeks, with over 2000 people hearing it.
When I did the video, I assumed that approximately 24 people would be hearing it, and that is how I recommend anyone does a talk to 2000 people – it’s much less scary.
In just 12 minutes I tell my story, talk about how chronic illness impacts your faith, and what helps to survive when God doesn’t answer your prayers. (I am particularly proud of the fact that I discovered how to edit the subtitles on Youtube so it no longer says hilarious sentences like, “gold in a muck in a moat in which the muck and the thorns Yankee can bring.”)
It’s pretty much my life-message in a single video. It almost* makes me think I never need to write again. So please do watch it, and if you find it helpful, share with others.
Drumroll for the new video
Let me know what you think of it!
*Ha! I said ‘almost’…

Hi Tanya,
I was at New Wine this year and would like to chat via email rather than on your webpage if that would be ok. I would really like to Thankyou for your video, tonight is the first time I have been able to watch it. I also have CFS but not to the extent that you have got to. So the night when your video was show in Impact I had a bad day and didn’t make it to the evening session, but my hubby and daughter both did and had huge praise for you. Although my day was probably caused by overdoing it, others part of me wonder if God wanted hubby and daughter to see it alone.
I love this story! Thank you so much for sharing it. I’m pretty busy right now with the book release, but will email you.
