All Change

It’s ‘Five minute Friday’ time, joining with Lisa-Jo Baker.

She gives us 1 word,

This is my best five minutes on ‘Change’
Yellow Autumn leave

There’s a coolness in the breeze, and I keep having dreams about packing up and feeling sad.

I can hear the sound of the dry leaves blowing across the road. Our apple tree already thinks autumn has come, and there are brown leaves scattered all around our garden.

They are heralding the start of a new school term. September is- well, tomorrow (how did that happen?) and with it comes new programs, new ideas. I am looking forward to us welcoming some 20-somethings into our home each week as we start a new group. I am submerging the thought that wonders if I will be well enough to be part of the group for the whole term. I am excited about the ideas I have for the blog, and scared that my health may not allow them.

I have had such an amazing August, with steady health, a restful rhythm. Jon taking the boy lots has enabled me to do much resting, and I have felt a freedom in my writing.

Now I am having dreams about packing up and going, and I think it is because of this small feeling of dread as the new term starts. Even from my bed I can feel the pull of the treadmill of the new school year.

And behind all that, Emeli Sande’s voice rings at the back of my mind with the song of the Olympic opening ceremony:

Change and decay all around I see
O thou who changest not
Abide with me.

Over to you:

  • How are you feeling about the new term?
  • What does it mean to you to have an unchanging God?

I so needed to read this. I never feel ready for the treadmill of this time of year, but I have no choice but to hop on. And I always find God is right there running alongside me.

I’m so glad it connected with you! And I love the image of God running alongside – that will be my prayer. Thank you.

So glad August has been a good month for you. It’s been a busy one here because Jeff has put in a new kitchen which as you can imagine caused great upheaval. Thankfully all the boxes are now empty and the cupboards have kitchen equipment in but not full after I was ruthless in what was sent to the charity shops. Time to rest up now. Poor Jeff has put a kitchen in but I’m tired after sorting a few boxes.
Praying the boys soon settle back into school and their new classes and that you have the energy to do all you need to do xx

Oh crumbs – that does sound disruptive! Hoping you get to enjoy it now. 🙂
